Our New Hobby?

Kason has taken up golfing and he goes A LOT. I am the coolest wife on the planet, basically. He will work all day long and even work late then come home and run out the door to go golfing. He goes several times a week! How nice am I? I don't mind though because I don't want him to lose his freedom just because he is a husband and father now. I want him to be able to do things that he enjoys! He let's me do the same :) Lately we have been talking about golf possibly being "our" hobby! Yes, we would need someone to watch Griff but if we could find someone, we would golf once a week or so. I really like golf and I am not too bad at it either. I need to work on driving but my putting is pretty darn good! (Yes, I am wearing a tank top and boy do I miss those days, haha. BUT this is a "sport" and I needed to wear a tank top!) Haha. I am good at justifying, I know :)

Teething Fun!

Griff's signature face! Eye's closed, mouth open.

Well, Griff has been teething for quite a while now, fun fun! He is still a pretty good boy but with a little more fussing these days. He has one cute little tooth and some more trying to make their way! I can't believe my little baby is getting teeth. Crazy! Here are some pics of him eating a messy teething biscuit! In of the pics you can see his cute little bottom tooth :)

Still Going Great!

I am still cloth diapering and I am LOVING it (Come on, do it Ash!) Griff's skin has gotten completely better, no more excema on his butt! I am really liking the Bum Genius and I even bought one Bumkins all in one (AIO) to try and I LOVE it. Plus, Bumkins makes such cute prints! So, I will be ordering some more Bumkins as well. The Bum Genius fit from 8-35 lbs and the Bumkins have to be bought in sizes. They ARE pricey but you guy's, they are worth it! I got so sick of running to the store constantly to buy diapers. Doing cloth just makes for more laundry but if you don't mind laundry, then they are easy as pie! I promise, they aren't hard to use. They are just like a disposable but instead of throwing them in the trash, you throw them in a laundry pail with a little sprinkle of baking soda and you wash them! Simple as that. Above is Griff modeling his new Bumkin camo diaper :)

Swimming, Riverwalk and Texas fun!

We had so much fun in Texas! We went on a boat ride through the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio, went shopping at the Riverwalk mall and checked out the Alamo. It is such a cool city! I want to go back and take my hubby with me next time. I needed him! :) Grant had a lot of fun with Griff since Luke is a boring little newborn right now ;) He just eats, sleeps and poops! So, Grant took Griff out in the yard, for a walk to the mailbox and swimming! They had so much fun together.

My New Nephew!

I just got back from San Antonio, Texas where I got to meet my adorable new newphew! He is awesome!! I wanted to take him home with me so bad :( I am going to miss him being so far away, sad. I met my Mom there and we had a lot of fun! Griffin came along too and couldn't get enough of his new cousin. He wanted to climb all over him and grab his long hair. Little Luke's hair goes down the back of his neck all the way to his back! He has a cute, little baby mullet! He didn't cry the whole time we were there, he is such a good baby. My sister got lucky like I did, thank goodness for that :) He just does one or two little screams when he wants something but no crying at all. Everyone seems to be doing fine with the new addition! Kristien is doing really well and Grant is the best Daddy on the planet! Him and Luke are going to have so much fun!

I am an Auntie again!!!!

Luke Allan Renken was born today at 5:35pm in San Antonio, Texas. He weighs 8lbs 2oz and he is darling!!! Both Mom and baby are doing great! Lucky Kristien had a fairly easy labor and delivery, lucky! I am off to Texas to meet my new nephew on Sunday night, yayyyyy! Wish me luck on the 3 hour red eye flight! It will be just Griffin and I, yikes. I am incredibly nervous! I hope the little critter sleeps! Anyway, congrats sister! I Love You!!!

My Hands Are Full.....

Griff is such a good boy, he really is! He rarely cries (only when he gets hurt and he whines here and there) and he is so content just playing by himself and exploring my house all day. I DO play with him but he keeps himself very well entertained! So, he really is an EASY baby. BUT he has a little mind of his own and he is so darn determined. He reminds me SO much of Kason, very strong willed and a go getter! When I hear Kason's Mom talk about how he was as a baby it makes me laugh. Griff and Kason are two peas in a pod! Our battles have been eating, bathing, changing diapers and clothes. He gets so mad when I have to lay him down for a diaper change. He squirms and wiggles all over the place and he gets so mad when I try to hold him down. He also climbs and crawls all over the place when he is getting bathed, it is a nightmare!! His latest thing is hating bibs when he is being fed. He cannot stand wearing a bib! He yanks them off every chance he gets. I got so frustrated with him the other day I let him take his bib off and I handed him his bowl and spoon and let him go to town! That explains the pictures! I left the room and let him go for it and he did :)

Solids???

I am not quite sure if Griff is old enough and ready for solids yet...but we have been giving it a try. I don't mind pureeing all of his food and spooning the goop in his mouth but it is getting kind of old! I want him to start feeding himself, it will be so much easier! So far we have tried cut up bananas, nectarines and cheerios. He likes all of those foods but he is a little choker! He also gets a little frustrated because he has a hard time getting the bits of food in his mouth. I am not sure where else to go from here as far as solids go. I don't even know if he is ready! Any suggestions??? In the meantime, we will just keep doing babyfood!

Eight Months Old Today!

I cannot believe my little baby boy is 8 months old! Before I know it he will be walking! Kason walked at 9 months so here we go.....yikes. Griffin isn't crawling yet but he army crawls all over my entire house. He goes in search for things on the ground like shoes, cords, food, you name it! He is a little scavenger! He likes to play with toys, read books, sing songs, play in any kind of water, he pulls himself up in his crib to a standing position and just yesterday he popped out his first tooth! I am still nursing so that will be interesting :) He is still such a good boy, despite teething and being in pain from that right now. He tries really hard not to fuss and cry but I am sure that teeth popping through gums doesn't feel very good! We are enjoying this little boy so much and we have been so blessed to have him in our family.

Big Boy Car Seat.....

My baby boy is getting SO big! He no longer fits in his infant carrier and not to mention, he hates it. It makes him lay down too flat and he cannot stand it! So we tinted our car windows today super dark to protect him from the sun (infant carriers have shades but not big boy car seats!) and we installed the seat. He couldn't be happier!

The Cloth Diaper Verdict!

I know, I know! It is only the first day of cloth BUT I am in LOVE with these diapers!!!!!! They are amazing. They last a lot longer than disposables and when I change him he doesn't feel wet at all. They are super soft and seem so comfortable for Griff. So, we will see how the nighttime goes because he usually has leaks and is wet every morning. We even had some poopy one's today and all went well! The material makes it so that the poo just falls right out of the diaper and into the toilet. Gross, I know! I am telling you though I am amazed by these diapers and even Kason is warming up to the idea, yayy! He is not thrilled now though because my Mom are I are going to start sewing some cloth wipes! It only makes sense :) Tehe.

Cloth Diaper Boy Starting Today!

So far I am sooooooo in love with these diapers! They are so cute and so well made. I think Griff and I are really going to like them! These diapers are MUCH softer than disposables and they will be able to hold much more liquid. Every morning when Griff wakes up he is wet and leaking and I have to change his sheets everyday. So, we will put these diapers to the test tonight! Yay! Kason is not all the way sold on cloth diapers BUT if he warms up to them and likes them, he said he would buy me another big set of them to cut down on my laundry time. Let's cross our fingers that he ends up being as sold on them as I am! I will keep updating my blog to let you all know how this adventure goes!

Water and Being Outdoors....Griff's Favorite Things!

I LOVE summertime, being from Arizona you have to love it! I also love water and being outdoors and thankfully, so does my little Griffin boy. Here are two of our favorites places....the pool at the Marriot (Again,Thanks Nicole!) and the new splash pad on Main street. Griffin loves to go outside for ANY reason. He likes to wander the front yard with me looking for weeds and he likes to sit in his stroller to watch me water plants. He even "crawls" to the front door and whines to go outside, it is hilarious! He is my little outdoor boy!

So excited about this..........

So, while I was pregnant I researched cloth diapers like crazy and I really wanted to use them. As my pregnancy went on and the more nervous I got about just being a Mom, I decided that cloth diapers would be too overwhelming for a new Mommy. Well here I am again, obsessing over cloth diapers! I HATE disposables. They aren't comfortable (I can only imagine), they leak and they give my little Griff skin problems, poor kid. I am also sick of buying diapers and every time I throw out a huge bag of dirty diapers I feel guilty! They are so bad for the environment!! I am not huge on enviromental stuff but they take forever to decompose and we go through soooo many, yucky. I just hate them!! So after all of my hours and hours of research I have decided on Bum Genius All in One, One Size cloth diapers which means they will last from birth to 35 lbs. How nice is that??? No more diaper buying unless we are camping, etc. So, the diapers are ordered and on their way! Yippee! They are pricey initially but we spend a lot on diapers now just to throw them away. These diapers are an investment! I am so excited to try them out and I will let you all know how we like them. I think Griff will be much happier! Here is some more info: http://www.bumgenius.com/all-in-one.php

Zion National Park

We spent a nice afternoon and evening in Zion with Kason's parents yesterday. The weather was beautiful out there! We just wandered around, got a snack and then went out to dinner. Griffin loves to be outdoors so he had a great time!

Obsessed!

Griffin cannot get enough of cords! Any type of cords. He army crawls all over my house in search of electrical cords of any kind. Yikes, right? He is such a boy!! In these pics he found the box of Nintendo cords that I thought I hid by taking them to another room, eeeeek. He found them in no time! He also likes to "crawl" behind the TV and look for things he shouldn't play with. I am going to have to do some SERIOUS baby proofing in this house.

Just What I Needed!

I was in a hairstyle rut big time so I decided to go dark! I was so sick of being blonde and tired of spending a ton of money to maintain the blonde, so here's the new me! A brunette!! I didn't tell Kason what I was doing to my hair so when he got home he was surprised to see a brunette standing on the porch!

Hardly a Baby Anymore!

I cannot believe my little baby boy is almost 8 months old. It flies by so fast! I never believed people when they said that. He is trying so hard to crawl and he is eating 2 to 3 meals a day now. He is still nursing with the occasional bottle of formula. He is a hungry boy!! He is starting to munch on cheerios and some organic baby rice cakes that I found. He is still such a good boy and we are enjoying every minute. We go for long walks every morning and he LOVES it. He gets mad when I put a blanket up to block the sun because he wants to see everything as we go along.
