I am not quite sure if Griff is old enough and ready for solids yet...but we have been giving it a try. I don't mind pureeing all of his food and spooning the goop in his mouth but it is getting kind of old! I want him to start feeding himself, it will be so much easier! So far we have tried cut up bananas, nectarines and cheerios. He likes all of those foods but he is a little choker! He also gets a little frustrated because he has a hard time getting the bits of food in his mouth. I am not sure where else to go from here as far as solids go. I don't even know if he is ready! Any suggestions??? In the meantime, we will just keep doing babyfood!

Solids???

He'll learn... they usually don't develop the skill of putting the small finger foods in their mouth until they are around 1. I think you're starting him pretty early (which is fine - it's totally up to you)... does he even have any teeth? We didn't really start giving Krew stuff like this until he was closer to 1. Every once in a while we'd give him something, but he was pretty much on baby food until he turned a year.
hahaha!!!!!!! I love those pics Julie!!! You always get the cutest smiles out of hime!!
Maeve has kind of just started picking up stuff really well... I've been putting cheerios and gerber puffs on her tray for a couple of months now, but I'd say within the past month she's gotten the hang of it. I don't think you're starting too early at all. You've been giving him solids (baby food) for awhile now so his tummy is used to it and he's got his new tooth! He'll get it!! :)
Those are the cutest pictures ever! What a fun boy!He gets cuter all the time. I want to see him in person again. When will you guys be up here next?
He needs practice, that is what I did with Bry. She would choke a little and it would stress me out, but now she does really good. Kix are good too. They dissolve really easily and nilla wafers.
You can try the Gerber Puffs; they are kinda like Cheerios but they melt in your mouth. There is also the Gerber Zwieback Toast that teaches them to suck off little pieces. Check out http://www.verybestbaby.com, Nutrition & Feeding, Solid Foods Quiz to know how ready he is, but I think you're right on track.
