eighties

feel like i totally missed out because i didn't get to live as a teenager in the 80's. although it was fun to just be a kid during that time, i would have LOVED to have experienced being a teen. i am an eighties girl through and through. i feel like it was the best decade ever! i love love love the music. and the rad clothes.

went digging through our garage and found an old license plate that used to be on my little white honda accord.

neil diamond.

he was big in the 70's, i know. but also in the 80's and i lovvved him growing up.

some of my fave eighties groups are U2*, tears for fears*, duran duran*, hall and oates*, the police (sting)*, styx*, reo speedwagon*, journey*, billy idol*, violent femmes, depeche mode, the cure, howard jones, thompson twins, OMD, morrissey, the cars, wham (george michael), men at work, pet shop boy's and many more.

the one's with the stars are the concerts i have been to. i used to be a concert junkie!! i miss those crazy day's sometimes :)

and i love me some corny soft rock too. all of it.

my fave neil diamond song...take a listen

favorite things

this mascara is amazing. period. been using it for years.

this scrubber gets the blackness off your feet from wearing flip flops and it exfoliates good too.

have always loved this line and now it's at wal-mart. yay! this blush is called living doll. my fave.

i sprinkle this "miracle" seed on everything. tasteless and so so good for you. buy it and try it in some yogurt.

can't live without my B12 injections! went to the doctor a while ago feeling crazy and having some weird symptoms. lo and behold i had LOW B12. weird.

this line has changed my skin. philosophy's advanced make-up optional.

best way to floss. hands down.

fam damily

{oct 13-19}

Had nearly my whole family here for Griff's bday and it was so darn much fun. Guests included my Mommy, my sis Linds, my niece Sadie and my amazing brother, Daniel. Missed you, Daddio! We had tons of fun shopping at the DI, antique stores and garage sales.

We ate out and cooked a ton while everyone was here. The concert we went to was so good. The girl will be famous someday. Like famous famous.

The girls had another fun night out and saw "You Again." So so so so good. Go see it now. Laughed our butts off. And I am not usually a laugh out loud kind of gal.

Linds and I attempted "lawn care" for the first time in our lives! It was a hoot. I have done a little yard care here and there but not without a little help. So while Kason and Griff were on a 4 wheeling trip, Linds and I decided to do Kason a favor. I have mowed a lawn before but I have never gotten all the stuff out, gassed the suckers up and started them all by myself. Were talking lawn mower, edger and blower. It was bananas. I am sure my sweet little neighbors got a kick out of my lil sister. Haha.

It was so nice to have family here. It was crazy fun to have everyone staying here. In my teeny tiny house. Loved it :)

Toy Story Party

On Saturday the 16th we had a sweet Toy Story party for Griff. For a long time this party was supposed to be Dora themed so thank goodness Toy Story 3 came out, just in time.

This was a hard little party to plan. It took a good full day or two to get everything organized and ready. I thought I was making it easier on myself by 1.) having the party anywhere but my house 2.) having it outdoors and late enough in the day (so we could be outdoors and not sweat to death) because it has been so warm here. But really, it was actually crazy hard! By the time we were done planning and preparing for the party, I didn't even want to have it anymore!

So we drove to the park where the party was supposed to be and just as I thought the whole park was abuzz with a bus load of people for some kind of democratic rally. Awesome. So an hour before the party we found an empty gazebo at a different park and a mass text was sent to all the guests. Ay yiy yiy. Oh and I am the fool who didn't reserve the tables at the park. Lesson learned.

Come five o'clock the guests are arriving and we are still setting up. Gahh. Oh well! We ended up having SO much fun. Everything went so smoothly and everyone had a great time. It was so fun to see all of my cutie friends (thanks guy's) and their sweet kids. It was extra amazing to see my stunning friend Jaci just FOUR days after giving birth, strolling up to Griff's party.

{my mom and i were teaching my friends how to pose after watching a tv segment about posing} haha.

A little mental note....serving dinner at a party is A LOT of work. Write that down friends ;) I wanted the party to be later in the day but later in the day means dinner time for most kids. Haha. But really, it was the perfect party and I think a lot of fun was had by all.

Us girls ended the crazy party day by going to a concert followed by a slumber party.

three {3}

Griffin Robert, I cannot believe you are already three. Really? I wish I could freeze time and keep you right where you are at. I often tell you to stop growing up and stop getting bigger. You like to ask me out of the blue: Do you want me to stay little, Mom?

You light up our lives like you wouldn't believe. You made us parents and we will never forget the day you were born. You are one feisty little strawberry blonde kiddo; you keep us on our toes with your over the top vocabulary. We can't believe what comes out of your mouth sometimes.

You are such a hard worker. You are always asking what you can do to help. You want to make dinner, pull weeds, mow the lawn, unload the dishwasher, organize your closet, to name a few.

Your current obsession is Toy Story.

You like to name your emotions. You tell us you are grumpy, shy, nervous or having a bad day. In those words.

You try really hard to be sweet to your brother but it is very hard for you. But when you are, you are the sweetest thing.

You are obsessed with organizing.

Griff, we love you. Your brother loves you. Adores you.

Happy Third Birthday!

P.S. Griff had a super fun birthday party...a post on that soon :)

Who Me?

Held this brand new sweet little babe the other night. Jeremy and Kim's little sweetie, I already love her. Got a tad baby hungry. Eeek. But like I have said before, Nolan has made me a smidge gun shy. He's been a hard one for me! Kind of still is. Dang it.

It was so fun to hold this darling little girl. Although I swear Kason and I only make boy's and I am destined to be a "boy mom". No girl names whatsoever, I already have a boy's first and middle name all ready to go. I have had some deep thoughts about how I am not cut out to be a mom to a girl. Is that just weird? I don't know if it's me telling myself that, or someone else? Could just be my lack of confidence in feeling capable enough to raise a girl.

Either way, I just loved cuddling this little babe and the boy's seemed interested in her as well. Well, maybe not interested..probably more like jealous.

Oh and I am perfectly okay with being a "boy mom." Little boy's and I go hand in hand!

conference weekend

i LOVE conference weekend. not only do i love conference but i really like not having church. eeek, i said it. now don't get me wrong, i love church :) but i don't love church with kids. i hate being there and asking myself why we even bother. i know, i know. it's the fact that we are there and making an effort, that's what counts right? i know it also gets the kids into the habit. so that's a good thing.

had family pictures this morning. i know, naughty. it was a complete disaster i might add. not sure if we got even ONE good shot but let's hope! our photographer was/is amazing but the boy's? uh no. they weren't having one ounce of it. total nightmare. not sure if we will ever do family pics again. ha.

watched saturday's session last night and loved it. was a little bitter about watching today's session with 2 busy boy's running all around. lo and behold they BOTH napped. that is a rare occurrence in our house. nolan "usually" naps but Griff? nope! picture to document this glorious day.

pretty much watched conference by myself because my other boy napped too.

not sure what will become of the second session. may not watch til tonight but that's okay with me :)

on to other sunday/churchy type stuff. finally got released from my calling. a little sad about it, not gonna lie. even more sad that i am pretty sure i am getting a new calling asap. also pretty darn sure i will be teaching temple prep along side my cute hubby! okay i am not "sad" about my probable calling but bummed that i won't have a tiny break between callings. oh well, such is life! i really am okay with it though :) should be interesting. i can teach kiddos but adults? gulp.
