I have been doing much better about not freaking out about my kids getting owie's and seeing blood, all of that kind of stuff. So yesterday Griffin fell down at the park and came running toward me crying with blood streaming from his mouth. My first thought was, oh crap his teeth! As I inspected his mouth I saw a big gash on his lip but his teeth were all intact. Poor kid. It bled like mad and I felt sort of panicked but calmed myself down and just kept holding pressure on it. He was over it in about 2 seconds and as soon as the bleeding stopped he wanted to play some more. Okay.
I figured it's just his lip and lips heal fast, right? I felt like he might need stitches but they don't stitch lips do they?? They do. I took him to the doctor today for a possible ear infection (he has one) and he also looked at his lip. Yes it needed stitches but it was too late. Now he will have a messed up, scarred lip with a bump on it. Also it will need to be fixed by a plastic surgeon. Nice.
Maybe I need to keep up with my freak out habits and not be so calm. LOL.

Not a bad mommy!! You couldn't have known stitches were needed. Sorry he has an ear infection too- that sucks! Guys love battle wounds, even if they're from childhood- so don't worry:) Love you!
I think I would have done the same thing. Maybe it won't end up looking too bad? Don't feel bad, you are a great mom!
I've been trying to order the "baskets" but it is really hard to get one up here... I need to be faster about getting online. Thanks for telling about them, I am really excited to try cooking with more vegetables.
It's so hard to know what to do. I always ask Tyson and he says give it a day or two. So then i continue to ask until he tells me what I want to hear. I think he will be fine, it doesn't look that bad. I'm sure you think it looks bad though. Poor Griff and his ear infection. Thats no fun. If you need any help let me know. I'd love to come tend, or whatever you need! And you're a great mom, kids are going to get hurt. I need to chill out a little bit more about that too!
oh :( really- we ALL make mistakes as moms- and you just have to roll with the punches ("Cowboy in the jungle!" :) Hang in there- he will be fine :)
Don't feel like a bad mommy... I probably would have done the saaame thing (I'm sure most of us mama's would)! Hope his lip heals quickly! And I love scars on boys... I think they are sexy ;)
