boy's

i really like having these two boy's to pal around with.

they like to do all the things i like to do.

i am a get dirty, get sweaty, run outside kind of girl. always have been.

i used to play with all the boy's in the neighborhood when i was a kid. riding bikes, rollerblading, you name it.

but obviously, i am a girl. not a typical girl, but girly enough.

i feel like i "get" boy's and i understand how their minds work. or i think i do.

lately, griff has really been throwing me off!

the other day i was talking to him about being nice to nolan and that they are brothers and buddies and will be for a long time. this chat was going on as i was pushing them along on our nightly walk.

griff was quiet and listened very carefully to what i was saying. i was thinking, Oh good, it must be soaking in.

he then said to me: Mom, let's throw nolan into the road and let him get run over. i like to play by myself and he bugs me.

so in a split second i went from thinking he was listening and understanding to thinking he might be murdering me in my sleep when he's a teen. lol. could he be that kind of kid???

i really thought that. cuck-oooo!

of course i scolded him and he listened but that was that. not another word was said about it.

for the next few day's i sat and worried about him possibly having "issues", or lack of compassion or love. believe me, i thought of everything.

i remembered a book that my mother in law gave me and i decided to read it. it's called wild things.

i hurried and read it in one day.

basically it made me feel 1,000 times better and gave me a clear understanding about why boy's do what they do and most importantly, say what they say. the book describes parents who have been in similar situations raising their boy's. and that what griffin said was kind of normal. eeek.

the book explains what kind of parenting works for each age group, all the way to the teenage years. i read the section for griff's age group and it described him to a "T" and gave ideas on how to parent that age.

for those of you that have a boy/boy's you need to read this book. i can't even tell you how amazing it is.

by the looks of my weight gain and the sheer size of my belly (i look like i am 30 weeks, for reals) i can only imagine that i must be having another boy! or a huge girl. seriously, the belly is big. looks just like my other two bellies! three boy's would be c-c-crazy!

but fun fun fun! and a little girl would soften the edges around here a little bit.

Haha Yeah remember Brett and Travis McCutchen? However you spell that. We were total tom boys. So fun.
I LOVE that picture of Nolan and Griff too. hilarious.
I agree it's totally normal what Griff said about No-no. You should hear the stuff Savannah says sometimes. Yikes! lol. It's cute and it's totally normal I'm sure. But Wow! I'd probably poop my pants! LOL. You're a great mom Hools.

Glad you found something that helped you feel better. there's nothing like worrying there might be something up with your kid. we all go through it. i sure hope you have a sweet baby girl :) really, it would be so cool to have two baby girlies at the same time (maybe even same day, lol!)

haha i totally wasn't expecting that comment to come out of him while you were explaining the scene. SO FUNNY! and, of course, a little shocking. i get mad at krew when i hear him say, "sway you're not my friend anymore." that book sounds good, maybe i'll have to check it out.
