Poor Tahoe

A few weeks ago, just moments after we parked our car in front of my in-laws house (right across the street) a little Honda Civic came barreling around the corner going super fast. Everyone was sitting on the front porch chatting so most of us saw the whole thing unfold. As the car came racing around the corner, Kason started to run out in the yard to yell at the jerk driving like an idiot through a residential neighborhood. He felt the need to pause and watch. Just as he stopped in the yard to yell, the guy crashed right into our parked Tahoe. That we JUST got out of!!

He pushed the back end of our Tahoe up a curb and onto the sidewalk. The driver then proceeded to try and back up...to drive away we think?? It seemed like it anyway. A kind neighbor opened his car door, yelled at the guy and grabbed his keys. He was so out of it so we thought he was hurt but we weren't really sure what was going on. Kason called 911 who took a good fifteen minutes to respond. Good old St George on a Sunday I guess. Grrr. Would if someone had been hurt??

The police finally came and we told them the man in the car might be intoxicated. So, they did field sobriety which he CLEARLY failed because when he got out of the car he could barely walk. Then they did the breathalyzer and the guy wouldn't cooperate. Shocking. After all that they cuffed him and hauled him off. In the meantime a collection of neighbors who saw or heard the wreck were in my in-laws front yard with camping chairs, drinks and popsicles to watch the whole thing go down. It was a hoot! The whole thing was so surreal and really shook up our quiet little Sunday in St George!

The guy was an illegal immigrant with a driving privilege card (what the heck is that?!) and he had Farmer's Insurance. What the....Super strange that he even had insurance, and good insurance at that. He was on his third DUI which is super awesome. Don't even get me started on that or any illegal immigration crapola. I am now driving around a nice 2010 Chevy truck so I can't complain. Hope they take their sweeeeet time fixing the Tahoe! Not sure if our vehicle is totaled yet. The damages are anywhere between 4 and 5 thousand so were not sure if they will bother fixing it. We shall see!

Glad that we are safe. Glad there wasn't a family out for a walk or bike ride. Glad there wasn't a car coming. Glad we parked in front of the neighbors house because the guy would have crashed through their front door. Just glad.

Thanks to Kira for the awesome pics!
