::sickies::

in the past month i have spent hundreds (no joke) of dollars on dr.'s visits, over the counter meds and prescriptions (meds for the boy's, asthma meds for kase, pregnancy meds for me..you name it)

since christmas we have had the stomach flu (griff, nolan and i)

bad colds

croup and whooping cough

*i must add that the on-call doc who diagnosed the boy's was super strange and didn't test them at all for these 2 things. so who knows if this is really what they have. i looked up whooping cough and griff displays some of the symptoms but not all. and nolan's cough does sound like a barky/seal cough (croup). i basically went in there and said, i think he has croup and he was like, yep. probably. interesting! nolan only coughs a handful of times a day. it's so weird. but when he does, it's creepy! griff's cough is totally different. super weird!

for some ODD reason, kason has stayed healthy through all of this

i haven't had the flu (or been sick at all) since i was 29 weeks pregnant with nolan

we have never experienced the pukes with the kids before, so that was a fun new one for us

it was SUPER fun cleaning up puke with my pregnant sense of smell, sweet!

the last time we have had sickies in our home was when nolan was born and a few of us passed around H1N1

kason had it FOR sure but i am not positive nolan did

or he had a super mild case compared to his daddy's

so as of right now kason is healthy, griff has whooping cough (which has involved more puking) and nolan has croup

oh and i have another nasty cold (i just had one over christmas!)

so needless to say, we haven't had sickness in our home for a while

BUT we are being hit with all kinds of stuff all at once

blah

i have barely had time to think about the little baby in my tummy but all seems to be well and i am feeling little tiny flutters or something going on in there

here's to hoping we can get well around here

crossing my fingers and praying kason doesn't get anything

i don't think i could handle it. period.

this makes me laugh

Why I can't stop reading Mormon housewife blogs

is it wrong that i find this to be somewhat true?

i may be dumb (or naive) but i never realized there might be a following of non-LDS followers on all the well known LDS blogs.

it is interesting to see how other people percieve our religion and the way we do things.

long article but worth the read!

Sunday FUNday

so glad to have these 2 boy's back!

they left me and went to the dumont sand dunes in california.

i was supposed to be there with them, having fun, but instead i was here puking my guts out enjoying me some stomach flu.

having the flu and being pregnant is a total trip.

had a superb sunday today!

but church was a total bust as usual.

we sat in the hall (NO seats left because we can't seem to fathom 9am church just yet).

we didn't hear a word of sacrament. sad.

went to sunday school and i enjoyed myself while griffin went to sunbeams and nolan and kason roamed the halls.

TWO more months and little No will be in nursery, yippeee!

was asked to meet with the bishopric after church. oh no, my break is over!

got called to be with the mia maids.

not gonna lie, i am nervous as all get out and k i n d of excited.

i also have another drunk mexican on sunday story (it was sunday when our tahoe got slammed by a drunk mexican a few months ago) here goes:

so we went for a walk today because it was like 63 degrees, sunny and gorgeous! we walked by a little truck that was parked really crooked on the side of the road, kind of at a funny slant. the car was running and there was a mexican dude passed out over the steering wheel. my first thought was oh man, look at that drunk guy slumped over in his car. he's got to be drunk. but then for a minute i wondered of he might me having a medical situation. so i told kason to call 911 and let them know the guy is either asleep or is having a medical issue. so we walked around the block and came back around to check the situation and there were 3 police cars and an ambulance. as we walked by the ambulance left. obviously he was fine. so we just kept walking but would stop every few steps or so to see what was going to happen. sure enough they did field sobriety. he failed miserably, it was so obvious. he was stumbling all over the place. so they cuffed him and hauled him off. it was quite the scene. for a minute i felt bad for ruining the guy's day but nahhh. the idiot was drunk as can be and passed out on the side of the road in his running vehicle. glad we got that loser off the streets. ridiculous. don't even get me started because what i have to stay won't be nice at all :)

names, names, names and a little about nolan

i know it's early to be thinking too deeply about names

but in our family there is kason, griffin and nolan

SO if i have another boy his name HAS to end in "n" right?

i think so

my girls first and middle name is pretty much set in stone, it's a new one i came up with...initials are MKP...not quite ready to throw it out there yet or i might end up hating it

all the girls names i used to like are out the window

but if it's another boy (which i am just assuming it is) i have NO more names

i used my most favorite boy names already

PLUS, a boy's name ending in "n" limits me quite a bit

it basically narrows the field down to some pretty trendy/popular names

don't want to have to go there

anyway, this is my latest dilemma. ha.

although i have a long time to figure it out, it still stresses me out

:::

still haven't begun the sleep training with no no

hurry up BOOK! get here already!

also still working on getting the beastly treadmill out of his room

oh and the little man has THREE molars that i had no clue about!

i swear griff didn't get his til way later than this

long winded vent

okay so i am no supermom. i have made many, many "mistakes" when it comes to my kids.

i have always used a certain style of parenting because that's just what suited me (us)

i feel like i need to savor every moment of my little boy's lives. i love the rocking, cuddling in bed, nursing to sleep kind of thing.

griff is obsessed with cuddling. he doesn't need/want to be in our bed but he would love it if someone went to his room to cuddle in his bed.

we have always rocked griff to sleep but now that he is three (ridiculous, we know) he gets a shower, some reading time, a small sippy of milk and the he goes to his bed where he can continue to look at books if he wants to.

he doesn't love the new way of doing things but he is doing just fine and is getting used to the idea.

nolan is a whole different story.....my goodness. i am at my wit's end with the child. he is extremely needy, very much attached to me or really anyone who will rescue him from screaming in his bed. if it's kason that goes to get him, fine.
he might be afraid of the dark, maybe he has some separation anxiety...i just don't know. i guess maybe he is just spoiled.

BUT he has never been a good sleeper. he awakes to every little sound. if you open his bedroom door, boom, he's awake. i used to sit in griff's room and fold laundry and go in and out several times and the kid would just keep on sleeping. back to nolan.....starting at 4 months he would wake me up several times a night, every night. he even woke to night nurse until he was a year old.

after i stopped nursing he continued waking in the night but thank goodness it was only once. but let me tell you, the child is 16 months old and STILL wakes me every single night, without fail. he wakes up and cries and cries for someone to come get him. it's usually 2-3 hours after he falls asleep. we have been letting him cry it out at bedtime and it has taken him up to an hour of bloody murder type screaming until he finally gives in to sleep. but i have been rescuing him every night when he wakes because 1.) it's easier to pull him into our bed because the moment he hits my bed, he's out 2.) he and griff share a room and i don't want him waking griffin up. that would be a disaster.

take note that nolan takes one nap a day and it's usually only an hour. so i know that once evening time rolls around he has to be tired and he is. he shows several signs of it.

this brings me to where i am at now, at this moment. i am over it. i am at my wit's end. his crying doesn't make me feel bad anymore, it makes me mad more than anything.

i furiously cleaned out his old bedroom today (the nursery aka. my workout room) and i am saying sayonara to the treadmill (believe me, it will be worth it) and little nolan is going to have his own bedroom where he can scream and cry all he wants. i am not exactly sure what to do when it comes to his night waking though. completely ignore it? no clue. i have tried going in his room and saying "it's night night time. goodnight. i love you" and it always makes him scream louder and harder. what to do, what to do.

i have a book on the way called the no cry sleep solution. i guess it sounded like the best one for us. i am going to read it, apply it and then stick to my guns. i can't have a big ol pregnant belly and a flippin' toddler in my bed. no way. sleeping will be hard enough! i also can't have a night-waking, nursing newborn and a night-waking almost 2 year old. i just can't. i am 100% over it all. i need to get a grip on nolan before this little babe gets here. because you never know what kind of baby this one will be! eeek!

anyway, yes this is a vent. just had to get it out there, into the universe. ha. but honestly, opinions are welcome. i would love to hear from someone who has dealt with sleep issues. because really, this is killing me. slowly killing me.

we have a heartbeat!

not that i didn't think we would have one but you just never know. the issues that i had with nolan came back to haunt me with this pregnancy, but worse. my levels (hcg and progesterone) were SO low. the doc even told me not to get too excited just yet. and honestly, i wasn't excited until the morning/all day sickness sunk in and stayed for a while. i guess this usually means all is well. i have only thrown up a few times but the all day sick feeling has been intense this time. maybe because i am older? maybe because i can't lie around and relax as much as i did with my previous pregnancies? no idea.

but here we are! 11 weeks and a heartbeat of 170 bpm.

super excited and feeling really blessed to be having another babe.

i have my moments of panic though, believe me.

Sunbeam!

Just had to post this...Griff started Sunbeams today at church and did so good!

The teacher told me he was the most well behaved and answered every question she asked and all of his answers were right :)

She also said that he offered to say the prayer and didn't need any help.

Oh man, gotta love it.

He is getting so big.

On our walk home he told me..No more nursery Mom, now it's Primary for me!
